Baz Cooking Apples
We had some wonderful meals!
Chicken, Wild Rice, Sausage casserole (serves 10) from Cheryl
4-5 (depending on size)
boneless chicken breast halves
1 box Uncle Bens wild &
long grain rice
1 lb. bulk sausage (mild sage flavored)
1 3oz can whole mushrooms,
(or stems and pieces)
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
½ teaspoon of Worcestershire
sauce
¼ cup melted butter or
margarine
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
Cook chicken and cut into
bite size pieces. Prepare rice as package directs. Brown and drain sausage.
Combine rice, sausage,
mushrooms, soup, and Worcestershire sauce.
In a 9x13 layer one half of
the rice picture, then spread chicken pieces over top.
Next spread the remaining
rice mixture over the chicken.
Mix seasoned bread crumbs
with melted butter and spread over top of casserole.
Bake at 375 degrees for 30-40
minutes.
Freezes well before baking.
Just defrost completely, then bake as directed.
(For the beach, I prepared chicken and sausage ahead
and then froze them in separate containers to cart to Duck in cooler. Thawed
while there and then put casserole together)
